Teaming at a Distance: The Work Experience on Global Virtual Teams

Dr. Lejla Bilal Maley’s research explores the lived experience of working on Global Virtual Teams (GVTs). These teams offer valuable insight during the present-day crisis, as they generally work remotely and rely on technology as their medium for communication, project management and knowledge sharing.

WEX is always interested in learning from successful writers about their process. Here, Dr. Lejla Maley shares a few pointers:

What advice would you give to others writing a dissertation?

Version control issues can easily be avoided if you name your documents accordingly.

How has WEX professional coaching/editing support promoted your academic and/or professional success?

Anne and the WEX editors worked overtime to perform surgery on my dissertation, which was possessed with formatting issues beyond our comprehension. They were responsive, vigilent and kind.

What are your next steps in your academic/professional career?

I am engaging in and looking for speaking opportunities to present my research. I am also working on my first postdoctoral journal publication (fingers crossed). Additionally, I plan on beginning phase three of my study this summer.
