Please join The Writers’ Exchange in congratulating Dr. Etta Delores Jackson in the successful completion of her dissertation:

The Role of Geospatial Information and Effective Partnerships in the Implementation of the International Agenda for Sustainable Development

Etta Jackson’s research provides a “how” response to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by engaging the government and key stakeholders of an informal settlement in Kisumu, Kenya and using data.

WEX is always interested in learning from successful writers about their process. Here, Dr. Etta Jackson shares a few pointers:

What advice would you give to others writing a dissertation?

(1) Pay close attention to your current APA format guidelines. (2) If you plan on doing research overseas make sure you get permission to have their names and photos of participants used in print. (3) Work with your librarian early and closely to get copyright permissions.

What are your next steps in your academic/professional career?

Dr. Etta Jackson will continue to work with the United Nations, Member States, and the international community to use an integrated comprehensive planning approach to implementing the 2030 Agenda with the use of geospatial information technologies.
